DEMO CLOUD SOFTWARE

There are three ways to communicate with a TRMC:

  • a) Direct connection, by USB cable or RS-232
  • b) GSM CSD DATA connection
  • c) Indirect connection by GPRS

Direct connection by cable

Tetraedre proposes several adapters USB or RS-232 (INF-USB-BUC, INF-USB-RJ11) that we can connect to a PC. These adapters allow to communicate with the TRMC and the other products of Tetraedre. Usually, for the TRMC, the communication is made with the software AXIOM BASIC available free on the Tetraedre's website. We talk about point-to-point communication because the communication is direct, without intermediary. Every order sent by AXIOM BASIC is directly transmitted to the device.

With this cable we can change the configuration of the system and read the data. Every holder of a TRMC should have at least one adapter of this type.

GSM CSD DATA connection

The mode GSM CSD DATA is a mode of analogic remote communication (voice like) using the GSM network. It is very similar to the communication used by faxes. Once the communication established in GSM CSD DATA, we have a point-to-point communication similar to the one that we have with a USB cable or a serial cable. However the GSM module of the TRMC should be switched on and ready (the GSM module of the TRMC is generally switched off to reduce the energy consumption). On its side, the PC, should have a modem compatible with GSM CSD DATA. Generally an analog modem suits. Some users prefer the use of a GSM modem also for the PC.

Note that the GSM CSD DATA mode is a little bit outdated. It becomes harder and harder to find SIM cards capable of making GSM CSD DATA. In Switzerland, Swisscom's cards Data Basic can work with this mode. Moreover telephone's operators do not promote this mode of functioning any more and it is very difficult to obtain their help. (Most of the sellers do not even know that it exists!)

Less and less Tetraedre's customers use the mode GSM CSD DATA to communicate with the TRMC and this for the following reasons:

  • Difficulty to find adapted SIM cards
  • The TRMC needs to be called at a hour planned in advance (so that the modem GSM of the TRMC is switched on at that time).
  • Difficulty to call several TRMC unless having several modems connected with the PC

GPRS connection

This is the mode of communication most frequently used with the TRMC. In GPRS mode, the TRMC sends, at a programmed time the new data to a WEB SERVER. The server stores then the data. It can also send orders and/or new configuration to the TRMC. The user can then view the data on the Web server.

The GPRS connection is not direct because the user cannot send orders directly to the TRMC. Everything goes through the server web.

The advantages of the GPRS communication are the following:

  • Easy to find the compatible GPRS SIM card
  • Several TRMC can communicate simultaneously with the server
  • The energy consumption is minimal because the time of connection is very short (about 30-40 seconds)

TDS server Software

The Web server has to have a specific software to manage the data with the TRMC. This software is named TDS and can be bought at Tetraedre. It is also possible to rent an access to the server of Tetraedre which already hosts TDS.

Tetraedre offers you two solutions for the storage of your data and values.

1. We can come to your office to install the software on your server. For your budget, it is necessary to take into account the purchase of the software but also the installation of this one. This system allows you to manage in any confidential the data received by the various measuring devices of your system. Naturally, Tetraedre stays at your disposal to help you making your first steps with TDS.

2. The data goes directly on the Tetraedre's server. This one is very reliable. Indeed, a backup is daily made to guarantee the data storage. This solution is the most practical and the simplest because it does not require any installation and you do not need to have a server at home. In your budget you will consider then modest costs for data hosting.

TDS is an essential and very powerful tools. Indeed, you can read remotely the data and act according to the information received by TDS. It can also send you emails daily to transmit the measures made by the TRMC. You do not need to move any more and to waste your time, the data and the values are displayed directly on your screen. Thanks to TDS it is also possible to change remotely parameters of the devices which are on-site. You can also change remotely the hours of recording of data and you can also change the physical parameters of measuring devices. Indeed, if a device is moved on site, it is possible to change its parameters to always have correct measurements on the screen.
